Healing Arts Program

Healing is about more than getting quality medical care. At Renown Health, we’re working to create an environment that transcends the boundaries of traditional medicine.

For centuries, cultures around the world have used all mediums of art to promote healing. Restoring our patients’ health means combining the best in skill, expertise and technology with extraordinary techniques, which is why our medical centers include original artworks. During a patient’s most difficult moments, art can be a source of inspiration, comfort and strength.

In the early 1990s, Renown Health created the Healing Arts program to focus on the importance of the arts in the healing process. The program has brought music to the patients’ bedside and arranged local art exhibits in the hospital hallways. Through a partnership with the Nevada Museum of Art, the Healing Arts program organized an Artists in Residence program which led to the publication of The Harvest of Lesser Burdens—Art in the Fields of Medicine.

The Healing Garden

Rendering of the Healing GardenProviding strength, contemplation and peace for all who visit, the Healing Garden at Renown Regional Medical Center is an escape from the everyday world and a place for tranquil reflection. The Healing Garden features medicinal plants, original sculptures and artwork, and a serene environment designed to promote patient healing and comfort.

During a time of recovery, patients and their families need a quiet place to relax. A walk through the garden will reveal large sculptural works by internationally known artist Cork Marcheschi, medicinal plants and herbs, and pools of soothing water.
