It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important than the feeling for pictures. — Vincent Van Gogh

Lyle London studied at Dartmouth College with sculptor Varujan Boghosian and various visiting artists (Larry Zox, Dimitri Hadzi, Robert Indiana, Jack Zajac, and others) in the late 60’s. Zajac’s style of biomorphic abstraction has had a lasting influence on his work.

After several years of carving stone and practical experience in a fine art bronze foundry, London began working primarily in fabricated metal. The smaller scale and formalism of earlier cast bronze pieces have given way to a body of large-scale commissioned works in copper, aluminum, stainless steel, various stones and glass.
