"As with any venture into art, the experience is usually the richest part of the journey."
Those of us who have lived in Nevada for some time have come to love the spacious beauty, hidden wonders and historical richness of this place we call home. As a photographer, I have tried to search out the deeper layers of meaning I find in this Nevada environment and portray them in my work. This has not been an easy task; a picture is an illusive thing. The realization that Nevada is a complex place having many interpretations has been an inevitable outcome of my search. As with any venture into art, the experience is usually the richest part of the journey.
For me the Nevada landscape represents freedom and a release to a higher plane from the struggles of life. The vastness and openness signify liberation for the soul.
The Nevada Sky Series consists of images taken locally and two sequences taken within an hour’s time span - I80 between Lovelock and Fernley and Highway 50 between Fallon and East Gate.
